Updated Video Player

by Woody on July 7, 2010

As most of you may have noticed, we launched a new video player on Tube8.com a few weeks ago. We let you guys experience it for a bit to see what you think. Well, we’ve gotten a ton of feedback about it – and we listened!

We have taken all your great feedback and reworked the video player to address the issues you have been experiencing. The updated video player is live right now, so you can test it out for yourself by watching any video on Tube8.

Please note, you may need to clear your web browser’s cache to see the new player. You can find instructions on how to do so by doing a web search for “how to clear web browser cache” for whichever browser you are using (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, etc).

Have you tried out the new video player? Let us know what you think about it in the comments section below or on Twitter – @Tube8.

When I attempt to view a video on your site. it tells me that I need the latest verison of Adobe flasher player. I have down loaded it a few times but it says the same thing even after its been down loaded. I’m useing IE8. I can get it to work useing Firefox but I have to switch which is a pain. Can you help me figure out what is going on. Thanks for the help

I think everybody would agree with me when I say that we appreciate the new player, it was a great gesture but the old player worked like a charm.

At least we have the opportunity to choose whether we want to use either player at our convenience.

Thanks a bunch! :)

although you fixed the one problem i had with the new vid player (i.e. not being able to click in a specific spot in video), i agree with inv1sbl3, the new player is good but the old was better.

I am having the same problem as clyde, when I try to view a video, it tells me i need to upgrade adobe flash or enable java, both of which I’ve done several times w/o any success. What is it about using IE8 that is causing this problems..Please help because I miss viewing your videos.. Thanks

Not sure why, but it seems the new player doesn’t like firefox for me. Have cleared all my cache, disabled ad blockers, etc, and it just won’t work. Works fine in Safari.

The old player seems to be broken now, can’t skip to different parts of the scene, and I don’t appreciate the new viewer since there is no aspect adjustment, can’t adjust videos that looked squished or stretched.

Hey! Are you still having the same issue? If so, try Hi, clearing your cache and cookies, then update your flash, javascript and browser version (preferably Chrome or Mozilla). Then re-launch your browser and try again. This should solve the problem. Happy to help.
